If you were to ask Canadian-British designer Philippe Malouin, he would say it should be inviting and impressive without being influenced by any particular trend.

After creating the DS-707, Malouin – who has been nominated as one of the most important creatives of his time by the prestigious AD Magazin – designed the DS-705 for leather furniture manufacturer de Sede. This sculptural sofa embodies the company’s heritage while exuding an enchanting contemporary spirit.

Production process

The designer’s experimental approach and his love of materials are clearly recognisable. His experiments with soft felt have produced a very appealing design and the way the armrests fold inwards is reminiscent of a warm embrace. The upholstery is draped over the sofa in such a way that it connects the back section and seat in a fluid manner. The ultra-soft surface has resulted in a piece of furniture that takes relaxation to a whole new level.
