Alessandro Moggi In the heart of Milan, in the interiors of Palazzo Durini Caproni di Taliedo, the permanent Edra Palazzo Durini showroom welcomes the latest innovations and historical pieces from the Tuscan company, in a fusion of history and modernity Palazzo Durini Caproni di Taliedo is a historic building in Milan, designed and built between 1646 and 1648 by Francesco Maria Richini. Previously he had designed Palazzo di Brera, which now houses the Pinacoteca di Brera, Palazzo Annoni, Palazzo Archinto, Palazzo Litta, Palazzo Sormani and numerous churches, at least 17 of them in Milan, including San Giorgio a Palazzo, Santa Maria alla Porta and Santa Maria in Brera. Palazzo Durini Caproni di Taliedo was commissioned by Gian Giacomo II, the son of Gian Giacomo Durini. Its interiors feature works created by a group of emerging Milanese painters, who transformed its spacious chambers into an extraordinary experimental laboratory of 17th-century proto-Baroque. During World War II, the building was seriously damaged in air raids in 1943. Its reconstruction was entrusted by the Caproni di Taliedo family to the architect Attilio Spaccarelli and continued in 2000 with further refurbishment that restored the building to its original splendor. The piano nobile of this extraordinary building houses the Edra showroom. A setting that interlaces art, design and history. The great chambers with high frescoed ceilings and large mirrors on the walls display collections of sofas, armchairs and furnishing accessories by Edra in a continuous interplay of meanings and evocations, between past and present, history and modernity, where the common thread running through everything is timeless beauty. “We were looking for a Milanese home, a space that could communicate the values of our company,” says Monica Mazzei, Vice President of Edra. “We wanted a reserved place, but one that had the gift of being welcoming. Simply, without knowing it, we were looking for Palazzo Durini Caproni in Taliedo.” Edra, Palazzo Durini - Ph. Alessandro Moggi Edra, Palazzo Durini - Ph. Alessandro Moggi Edra, Palazzo Durini - Ph.
