Exhibitions New shapes and colours define outdoor design Text by Cinzia Bontempi Add to bookmarks Doga by Raffaello Galiotto for Nardi The latest outdoor living projects harness elegant colours and introduce furnishing accessories and solutions that harness increasingly environmentally friendly materials. Without compromising on comfort. Proposals for outdoor spaces are channelling teak (processed many different ways), often paired with aluminium, fibreglass resin and concrete. Updated minimalism reinterpreted in a high-tech key, with water-repellent fabrics and an abundance of padding. There are plenty of references to the nautical world, with the use of canvas and padded cord. Ethimo (Pav 02, Stand M 16) The Ace collection reinterprets the functional set-ups and chairs devised for furnishing resorts and sports environments such as tennis courts and swimming pools. The prime materials are natural teak and aluminium available in four different colours: Black Red, Moss Green, Coffee Brown and Warmwhite. The modular benches lend themselves to different configurations and customisations. Ace by Patrick Norguet for Ethimo Emu (Pav 02, Stand J 19) Classic and modern make up the lines of the Thor collection of steel chairs and high and low stools that celebrate the bucolic life. There is a wide range of colours available and the unusual form of the assemblage of components also allows for the option to incorporate a teak seat, making for an interesting combination of materials. Thor by Alfredo Chiaramonte and Marco Marin for Emu Fast (Pav 04, Stand J 01) The latest quilted dining armchair in the Ria range boasts a curved and enveloping shell. The aluminium frame is covered in water-repellent fabric, available in a multitude of colour variations. The padded backrest ensures that this concept is solid, lightweight and comfy. Ria by Alberto Lievore for Fast Gibus (Pav 04, Stand L 08) E-varia forms part of the new Energy Pergola range of bioclimatic photovoltaic pergolas. The design of this hi-tech product is spare, its structural function integrated with a photovoltaic system producing sustainable and renewable energy. Its patents include the Misting System, a steam nebuliser that absorbs the heat inside the pergola.
