Stories SaloneSatellite: registration is open for 2024 Text by Laura Barsottini Add to bookmarks SaloneSatellite 2023, ph. Ludovica Mangini There is time until 15 September to submit your application to take part in the event devoted to under 35s at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024 is an outstanding date for the SaloneSatellite: next year will be the 25th edition of the Salone del Mobile event founded by Marva Griffin in 1998 and devoted to designers under 35. One more reason to take part. Griffin's purpose was to facilitate the relationship between companies and young designers preparing to enter the profession and the market after their training. In 25 years this visionary but highly significant intuition has become a reality and for the occasion Salone del Mobile.Milano is preparing special initiatives that will be unveiled in the coming months. Meanwhile, the time has come to submit applications for Selection to take part: applications must be received by 15 September 2023. Just fill out the form at this link, entering your data and photos of three projects completed by that date. Artwood Academy - Polo Formativo del Legno Arredo Fondazione ITS Rosario Messina A visionary insight, a dream, an expression of love and trust towards the new generations, which has also involved numerous companies: SaloneSatellite has been – and still is – all this since its foundation. A smattering of history to understand the extent of the phenomenon: in 1998 the Event was founded. In 2010 the SaloneSatellite Award was established, which rewards the three best projects presented in each edition. Here you can see the winners for 2023 while at this link you can download the catalogue of all participants in the last edition. Some may be "old" acquaintances, since those who pass the first selection can compete up to three times. In 2018 at the Artwood Academy - Training pole of the Legno Arredo Fondazione ITS Rosario Messina in Lentate sul Seveso, Brianza, the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection was established. In the large Auditorium of the higher education institute established by FederLegno it brings together some 330 projects presented at the SaloneSatellite. These creations then successfully entered the catalogues of major Italian and international companies and in some cases have become icons of contemporary design. Over the years, in fact, thousands of young designers have taken part in the SaloneSatellite, some of whom have helped to develop the history of design, becoming points of reference for the evolution of this fascinating discipline. The Permanent Collection can be visited by appointment. But the celebrations for the twenty-five editions of SaloneSatellite have already begun this year with an extraordinary event, the exhibition "SATE... LIGHT. 1998-2022 SaloneSatellite Young Designers". Founded as a tribute to Euroluce, it was conceived in the wake of the concept of the Collection. On display were 77 of the lamps designed by 70 designers who over the years have participated in the Event. Companies have also contributed to fulfilling Marva's dream. Thanks to 50 brands that have relied on young talents, these projects have entered production. Find the leaflet at this link.
