Item: #T156 Marquetry Center Table

The model for this masterpiece of cabinet-making dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, it is from the central-Italian area, between Emilia and Tuscany, fruit of the fervid cultural exchanges that dotted that era.

The coexistence of different styles makes this table even more valuable, historical and current values: all the wisdom of craft workers that still guard the best ancient techniques, revisited in the light of the most important innovations.

The refinement of the interlocking inlay plays on the tonal differences of the variety of essences with which it is composed: in this table we find a structure in precious palisander, masterfully enriched with guatambù inlaid with geometric patterns; It is decorated with marqueterie not only on the top but also on the edge and on the apron. It rests on a turned central shaft, which incorporates the almost "optical" pattern of the top with curved quadripod support and curl foot.
