In the heart of Venice, in a stately home dating from the 16th century, a hotel interprets the vision of the historic furniture brand Pianca by presenting new trends and changing lifestyles

Interpreting needs, lifestyles and trends in travel and living today. And expressing these ideas in a tangible project, which offers a vision and is also a synthesis of the thinking that underlies a historic brand. Pianca, a Venetian company that since 1956 has been producing systems and furnishings for the home and contract sector, has achieved this by renovating a sixteenth-century stately home in the heart of Venice and creating what is now called Palazzo Pianca.

Just a stroll away from St. Mark's Square, between the Church of Santa Maria del Giglio and the Grand Canal, an accommodation facility has appeared with 16 rooms and two mini suites devoted to welcoming guests, but also to continuous research that constantly defines the perception of the role of design. The hotel will grasp aesthetic signs and functions for temporary living, always  paying close attention to the development of society and new lifestyles.

“Palazzo Pianca is a challenge that we took on from the start with immense pride and the urge to put ourselves to the test,” says the company’s President, Aldo Pianca, who explains: “The concept behind it is that of a Research Hub that we wanted to investigate the significance of hospitality, a  center of experimentation of languages and trends in hospitality destined to change over time, to test and continuously introduce new aesthetic and functional solutions.”

Located close to places of historical and cultural importance such as St. Mark's Square, La Fenice Opera House and the Gallerie dell’Accademia, Palazzo Pianca has close ties with the city, expressed in panoramic vistas and urban views. The welcoming atmosphere in the rooms is designed for the comfort of guests. The clean lines, pleasurable materials and natural elegance of which the Venetian company is the embodiment, define the building’s interiors with their hues inspired by the typical  colors of Venetian facades, continuously drawing on local traditions.

The whole project has been overseen by the inhouse team at the Pianca World Contract company. Together with custom-made products, the rooms contain classic pieces from the Pianca collections, designed by important figures in design, such as Calvi Brambilla, Cristina Celestino, Emilio Nanni and Philippe Tabet, as well as products designed by Tim Kerp, Stefano Gaggero and Metrica Studio: the custom-designed Anteprima, Sipario and Snake walk-in closets, the Milano wardrobe, the Rialto bed, the bedside tables Chloe, Daedalus, Logos and Atlas; the coffee tables Abaco, Baio, Duetto, 1+1, Contralto, Ettorino and Haik, the Asolo sofa, and the Calatea, Laurie, Esse, Dora armchairs. Then there is the elegance of the Milù lamps, the Oltre mirror and the Alunna and Gamma chairs.

The rooms and suites offer eclectic styles enriched with pieces produced by the company. The Suites - Peacock Suite, Giglio Suite, Mezzanine Suite - are notable for their spacious, open interiors, providing sitting room and bedroom. Comfort and hospitality also stand out in the Deluxe rooms - Botanic Deluxe, Penthouse Deluxe Blue & Brown and Artist Deluxe - with their bright fabrics and colors, and in the Classic rooms, secluded and reassuring, which enclose the desk and wardrobe in view combined with warm tones and soft lighting.

A rooftop terrace completes the project, offering a unique panorama of Venice.  “Palazzo Pianca is an oasis of peace in the heart of the city. Inside there are spaces that go beyond the pure concept of hospitality, defined by furnishings that explore all the constantly changing forms of living and traveling today,” concludes the President.  With the enthusiasm of one who knows he has landed a winning bet.
