Magazines from the world Introspective design Introspective design What does designing a space mean? The latest issue of stylish Mexican magazine focuses on interior design, taking readers on a journey through the accomplishment of artists, architects and designers, to discover how interiors “shape us”. Designing interiors often entails much to-ing and fro-ing between the designer and his or her ability to interpret the client's desires and expectations. The job of finding the right furnishings and creating a balanced space within the home is so wide-ranging and painstaking that a whole book could be written on every project, and interior designers know this full well. Designing a space also means drawing on one's own cultural background, visiting museums, discovering young artists, exploring craftsmen’s workshops. All this, and more, goes into the designer’s knack for intuiting what makes a client tick. With this in mind, the latest issue of Glocal, entitled The Interiors that Shape Us, showcases the work and modus operandi of the dazzlingly original designers Roy Azar, Edmundo Salinas, José Carlos Lombana, Mariana Rivera, David Dana, Kenya Rodríguez and Sulkin Askenazi. To top it all off, superb design curators and talented creators of unique atmospheres Erica Krayer and Ofelia Uribe (UribeKrayer) talk about their work as interior designers.
