The Romby chair is made with two different elements, which are in balance between each other: the seat and the base in solid wood. For us it was very important the geometric effect of these two parts together. We think that the Romby chair because of its iconic and essential design actually succeeds to transmit a new aesthetic in the home, perfectly fitting into the universe of Porro which is always characterized by minimal lines and great craftmanship”. Stine Gam, Enrico Fratesi Romby armchair, base in black stained ash and cover in top fabric Romby armchair, base in black stained ash and cover in top fabric Romby poltroncina, base in frassino tinto nero e tessuto top Romby poltroncina, base in frassino tinto nero e tessuto top From the transformation of the Romby chair designed by GamFratesi in 2020 and which smoothly and slowly turned into the “manifesto” item of Porro design with its ability to instantly convey the typical geometric purity, manufacturing excellence and artisanal flavour of the brand, comes the new Romby armchair for all-round use, opening up new possibilities in the home office and contract sector. The shapes of the padded shell seem to blossom, widening and rising to create the armrests, releasing a new, unprecedented feeling of softness and naturalness, but still retaining the lightness and minimalism of the original model. The truncated cone base, on the other hand, gives way to the convenience of 4 central wooden legs, a sort of change of clothes with the visual effect of a full, suspended upper volume that seems to take flight, in the name of cosiness and functionality. Romby chair Geometric allure and retro-styled design are the key elements of the new Romby armchair by GamFratesi, with its abstract charm. The truncated cone base in solid ash wood, natural or black stained, whose flared shape is obtained through slices made with great cabinet-making skills, is connected to a soft and compact padded swivel seat covered in leather and fabric. Perfect in a dining room or in a working environment with a cosy atmosphere, as well as a stand-alone element, Romby is a cocoon armchair with impeccable proportions and workmanship, which embraces the body while leaving it free to move, enveloping it with a feeling of great lightness. A project that fits perfectly into the Porro universe, which has always been characterised by minimalist designs and great craftsmanship.
